Recital Info 2023

Recital 2023

The Granada Theatre

108 North 9th Street

Mt. Vernon, IL

We will be having recital at the Granada Theatre in Mt. Vernon again this year. I can’t believe that we will be wrapping up our 12th season.  Rehearsal and recital will be June 1st-June 3rd.   Please read all of the information in order to know when you perform.  We absolutely love the Granada.  It really offers a big show effect.  Our dancers really enjoy that!

We will be splitting the recitals up again this year because space is limited at this venue.  We want every child to have a time to shine and we want all of our families to have the opportunity to watch them perform comfortably, so splitting them up helps with that. We did choose to split things up a little differently this year to help with seating.  We’re hoping to help resolve any issues that we had last year. If you have a competition child that is performing on Friday night and you’re only coming to the recreational recital for them to perform, please see Nina.

Everyone will have a recital fee of $25.00 plus $10.00 per additional child.

Recital shirt order forms will go out this week.  We’re using Wilford Printing in Mt. Vernon again this year. The due date for recital shirts will be Thursday, May 18th.  We will NOT take any orders after that.  Orders will be done online this year.  I will post a link to our Legg Up Facebook page.  If you do NOT order, you will not get a shirt.

Stephanie is also in the process of working with our videographer.  Once she has all of the fine details, we will send that information out.  She will have order forms at rehearsal check in.

Stephanie will be set up on rehearsal night just as she always is.  All outstanding balances will need to be paid in full in order to perform in the recital.  I will be posting summer class times as opposed to doing time cards again this year. Stephanie will also have a summer schedule available for you to view if desired.  All competition students will have designated class times.  If you have a recreational child and you’re interested in summer classes, you can see Stephanie and she will provide you a time.  We will be offering recreational dance and tumbling classes this summer along with our competition classes.

Ticket sales for recital will be done through Event Brite.  We will send you a link in order to purchase tickets.  You will have to show proof of your ticket purchase on your phone or a print out in order to get into the venue.  All dancers are free.  The Granada will be handling all ticket sales.  Their staff will handle the entry door as well.  Do NOT procrastinate in ordering your tickets.  They will sell out.  Accommodations will NOT be made this year if you forget.

Friday Night: $20.00

Saturday Night: $20.00

Friday and Saturday Night: $35.00

It’s very possible that parking will be a struggle.  Everyone will have to do the best they can in finding parking spaces at nearby lots and on the street.  We apologize for this, but there’s nothing that we can do about it.  Everything worked out last year, so I’m sure that it will this year too.

Seating at the venue will be first come, first serve.  Reserved seats will be for our senior families.  We will try to reserve handicap seating if need be. Please let Nina know if you need handicap availability.

We will have performance order sheets for each recital that you can pick up at the door the day of recital.  After your child has performed and stayed for their awards session, you’re free to leave.  We do encourage you to stay until their awards ceremony is over as they might receive a special award and you do NOT want to miss out on that. Every child receives a yearly award as well.

Performers will need to be dressed and ready 30 minutes prior to the start of recital.  You will need to send your kids to line up 3 numbers prior to their performance order  the day of recital.  We will let you know how to do this on rehearsal night.  The kids will line up/enter the stage from the center and exit on the side when they’re done performing.  Again, we will review this at rehearsal.  Competition students will have very little time between numbers.  Please make sure that you’re efficient on changing and getting back to line up.  Dressing room space will be very small.  We will only allow dancers and 1 parent in the dressing room.  Please, do NOT bring in more than what you need.

I’ve only selected certain competitive dance groups to have a rehearsal time due to the size of the theatre stage.  Competition dancers are pro’s at this point.  I don’t feel that they need additional rehearsal time. We can always get together with groups on Wednesday, May 31st at the studio to review if need be.  We will decide closer to time on that.  There are entries that will perform during the recreational recital.  Please pay attention to each line up. Several factors go into determining what is picked.

Summer classes will begin on Monday, June 12th.  We will be on a 3 week rotation for summer classes, with a total of 6 weeks. Classes will run June 12th-June 29th, then off a week.  We will have classes July 10th-July 27th and then off until September 5th.    Summer tuition prices will be sent out and posted.  We will have choreography for some groups in August and September.  Our tentative fall registration date will be August 10th or August 11th.  Cheer classes will be in session during the month of August as their competitive season starts earlier.  The tentative date for cheer to begin will be August 7th

Dance nationals are scheduled for June 20th-June 24th.  Classes for that week will be modified to accommodate the national’s schedule. As soon as we get this schedule, we will get it out to you.   We will go ahead and keep our weekly dance schedule for June & July.  If your child is changing any classes, dropping classes, adding classes, etc., please let me know, as that will take effect at the end of July.  I will need to form groups for fall.  Again, I only need to hear from you if you’re switching things up.  This season has already been OUTSTANDING!  I can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us.

If your child is in recreational classes and you’re interested in our competitive dance program, please see Nina.  We would love to get you into our amazing competitive dance program.  I’ve already heard from a few, and I’m so excited about it.
