2022 RECITAL INFORMATION

Recital 2022

The Granada Theatre

108 North 9th Street

Mt. Vernon, IL

We will be having recital at the Granada Theatre in Mt. Vernon again this year.  Rehearsal and recital will be June 2nd-June 4th.  Please read all of the information in order to know when you perform.  We absolutely loved the Granada last year.  I can’t believe that we’re wrapping up our 11th year.  We will be splitting the recitals up again this year because space is limited at this venue.  Our dance program grew again this past year, which is awesome.  We want every child to have a time to shine and we want all of our families to have the opportunity to watch them perform comfortably, so splitting them up helps with that.

Everyone will have a recital fee of $25.00 plus $10.00 per additional child.

We’re in the process of working on our recital shirts. Order forms will go out for this once we receive them.  We’re using Wilford Printing in Mt. Vernon again this year. The due date for recital shirts will be Thursday, May 19th.  We will NOT take any orders after that.

Stephanie is also in the process of working with our videographer.  Once she has all of the fine details, we will send that information out.  She will have order forms at rehearsal check in.

Stephanie will be set up on rehearsal night just as she always is.  All outstanding balances will need to be paid in full in order to perform in the recital.  I will be posting summer class times as opposed to doing time cards.  This saved me a lot of time last year.  Stephanie will also have a summer schedule available for you to view if desired.  All competition students will have designated class times.  If you have a recreational child and you’re interested in summer classes, you can see Stephanie and she will provide you a time.  We will be offering recreational dance and tumbling classes this summer along with our competition classes.

Ticket sales for recital will be done through Event Brite.  We will send you a link in order to purchase tickets.  Kids 3 and under are free.  You will have to show proof of your ticket purchase on your phone or a print out in order to get into the venue.  All of our dancers are free.  The Granada will be handling all ticket sales again this year.  Their staff will handle the entry door as well.

Friday Night: $20.00

Saturday Night: $20.00

Friday and Saturday Night: $35.00

It’s very possible that parking will be a struggle.  Everyone will have to do the best they can in finding parking spaces at nearby lots and on the street.  We apologize for this, but there’s nothing that we can do about it.  Everything worked out last year, so I’m sure that it will this year too.

Seating at the venue will be first come, first serve.  Reserved seats will be for our senior families.  We will try to reserve handicap seating if need be.

We will have performance order sheets for each recital that you can pick up at the door the day of recital.  We did choose to split our groups and solo/duet performances up this year with an intermission.  After your child has performed and stayed for their awards session, you’re free to leave.  We do encourage you to stay until their awards ceremony is over as they might receive a special award and you do NOT want to miss out on that.  We encourage everyone to stay and support our solo/duet students if you can.  They would love and appreciate the support.

Performers will need to be dressed and ready 30 minutes prior to the start of recital.  You will need to send your kids to line up 3 numbers prior to their performance order the day of recital.  We will let you know how to do this on rehearsal night.  The kids will line up/enter the stage on one side and exit on the other when they’re done performing.  Again, we will review this at rehearsal.  Competition students will have very little time between numbers.  Please make sure that you’re efficient on changing and getting back to line up.  Dressing room space will be very small.  We will only allow dancers and 1 parent in the dressing room.  Please, do NOT bring in more than what you need.

I’ve only selected certain competitive dance groups to have a rehearsal time due to the size of the theatre stage.  Competition dancers are pro’s at this point.  I don’t feel that they need additional rehearsal time.  There are a couple of soloists that will perform during the group recital because I needed additional numbers for costume changes.

Summer classes will begin on Monday, June 13th.  We will be on a 3 week rotation for summer classes. Classes will run June 13th-June 29th, then off a week.  We will have classes July 11th-July 27th and then off until September 6th.    Summer tuition prices will be sent out and posted.  We will have choreography for some groups in August and September.  Our tentative fall registration date will be August 11th or August 12th.  Cheer classes will be in session during the month of August as their competitive season starts earlier.  The tentative date for cheer to begin will be August 8th

Dance nationals are scheduled for June 23th-June 26th.  We do NOT have this schedule yet.  This should NOT affect your class times that week.  As soon as we get this schedule, we will get it out to you.   We will go ahead and keep our weekly dance schedule for the 3 weeks of July that we’re in session.  If your child is changing any classes, dropping classes, adding classes, etc., please let me know.  I will need to form groups for fall.  Again, I only need to hear from you if you’re switching things up.  This season has already been OUTSTANDING!  I can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us.

If your child is in recreational classes and you’re interested in our competitive dance program, please see Nina.  We would love to get you into our amazing competitive dance program.  I’ve already heard from a few, and I’m so excited about it.

Below you will find all of the information you need for recital.

All recreational kids and Tiny Riots will need to be fully dressed with hair and make-up for rehearsal and recital. Tiny Riots will do braids, not hairpieces.  Recreational dancers will do hair the same as you did for pictures. I will let competition kids know which routines they’re rehearsing.

All competition students will need to wear your recital shirt and black shorts or leggings for rehearsal.  Competition kids will need to wear their hair in a bun as usual for rehearsal.  You do NOT have to wear make-up for rehearsal.  You will NOT be required to change for rehearsal.  You’ve had enough practice with hair, make-up, and quick costume changes from competition.  Make sure that on recital days, you’re fully prepared.
